Region & Origin

Chelchele sits within Ethiopia’s famed Yirgacheffe district at 1,900–2,200 MASL. Smallholder farmers cultivate heirloom varieties under shade trees, relying on generational knowledge and traditional organic methods. The region is globally recognized for producing some of the world’s most aromatic and expressive coffees.

Processing at Chelchele Washing Station

Managed by Azeb Tadesse Coffee Supply, the Chelchele Washing Station is known for clean, high-quality natural processing.

Cherries are:

  • Handpicked at peak ripeness

  • Carefully sorted

  • Dried on raised beds for 12–15 days

This slow drying concentrates sugars and intensifies the coffee’s signature fruit and floral profile.

Why Yirgacheffe Stands Out

Yirgacheffe coffees are treasured for their jasmine-like florals, sparkling acidity, and crisp fruit sweetness. High elevation, unique heirloom genetics, and meticulous natural processing make Chelchele one of the country’s benchmark-producing areas.
