Producer & Origin

This coffee comes from Danbi Udo in Ethiopia’s Guji Zone, Oromia, where elevations range from approximately 1,950 to 2,200 meters above sea level. These high elevations help slow cherry development and contribute to the clarity, sweetness, and complexity that define many of Ethiopia’s best coffees.

The lot is produced by Hailu Abebe at the Danbi Udo Wet Mill, with cherries delivered by various smallholders from the surrounding area. According to the flyer, the station has built a strong reputation for processing high-quality Ethiopian coffees while carefully sorting and preparing cherries before dry milling.

Processing

This lot is processed using the natural method, one of Ethiopia’s most traditional and celebrated styles of coffee processing.

Ripe cherries are handpicked and delivered to the mill, where they are carefully sorted to preserve quality before drying. This method allows the fruit to remain intact around the seed during drying, often producing coffees with layered sweetness, fruit character, and complexity.

About Danbi Udo

Danbi Udo has become known for producing coffees with clarity and sweetness, supported by the region’s rich volcanic soils, forest canopy shade, and favorable climate. The flyer notes that many smallholders in the area intercrop coffee with avocados, mangoes, and legumes, while some also apply organic inputs through the local supply chain to maintain soil health and reduce erosion.
