Producer & Origin

This coffee comes from smallholder farmers surrounding the Banko Gotiti processing station in Gedeb, within Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone.

Coffee is grown between approximately 1,900 and 2,300 meters above sea level, where cool temperatures slow cherry maturation and support greater sweetness, density, and aromatic development. These high-elevation growing conditions help create the vivid fruit character and refined structure found in the finished cup.

The coffee was processed by EDN Ethiopian Coffee at its Banko Gotiti site. During harvest, the station employs more than 200 people and supports contributing farmers through prefinancing and educational resources.

Processing

This lot uses a Supernatural process designed to intensify fruit character while preserving clarity.

Ripe cherries are carefully sorted before undergoing a 24-hour fermentation in cold water. The cherries are then spread across raised beds and dried in the sun for approximately three to four weeks.

The extended drying period allows the fruit to remain in contact with the coffee seed, developing concentrated sweetness and a saturated berry profile. Careful sorting and controlled drying help keep the finished cup clean and balanced rather than overly fermented.

About Banko Gotiti

Banko Gotiti is located in Gedeb, an area within the Gedeo Zone known for producing some of Ethiopia’s most expressive high-elevation coffees.

The combination of altitude, cool growing conditions, and generations of smallholder coffee cultivation creates lots with intense aromatics, layered fruit, and elegant sweetness. This microlot highlights that regional character through a modern natural-processing approach.

About Ethiopian Cultivars 74110 and 74112

Cultivars 74110 and 74112 were selected in Ethiopia for their agronomic resilience and cup quality. They are widely found in southern Ethiopia and are capable of producing floral, fruit-forward coffees with excellent sweetness when grown at high elevations.

In this lot, they contribute to a cup defined by ripe blueberry, strawberry candy sweetness, and a clean finish.
